Signing Times: Potty Time-Review & Giveaway!

Potty training can be frustrating and stressful for parents and children.  My oldest son turned 3 in November and despite being able to verbalize he had “gone” for months prior to his birthday, he refused to sit and go until his birthday!  Since his big day, he has had  few ups and downs, so I was thrilled to receive Signing Times Potty Time to review with him! Will has been signing since he was 5-6 months old and it has been a tremendous help in avoiding tantrums and other issues from lack of communication!  I can not praise this program enough!

Signing Times Potty Time extends the Signing Times library by teaching the potty routine along with signs that children of any age can use to talk about the potty and their bodies.  It supports all potty training methods/programs and allows children to have fun with the process. Through singing, dancing, and sign language, your child will learn about how to listen to their bodies, handle accidents, and celebrate becoming a potty expert!

As many of you know, I have a 14 month old and a 3 year old.  Of course the 14 month old is not potty training ready, but he does learn and love sign language so I let them both view this video and they both LOVE it!  As with all of the Signing Times videos, the songs are engaging and addicting.  My 3 year actually asks to watch the video because he enjoys seeing his “friend Rachel”.  I really like all the topics covered in the video, especially the part teaching children to stop what they are doing to potty!  Although Will is doing an amazing job with his training, he still struggles with this part and will do the “potty dance” forever instead of just taking a break from what he’s doing to go use the bathroom! The CD that is included with the DVD is so much fun and has already provided us with hours of dancing fun.  It’s a perfect addition to the set to help you and your child celebrate potty successes or to just have fun singing and dancing together!

Signing Times Potty Time can be purchased here for $24.95.  If you’re new to using sign language with your child, I suggest purchasing Baby Signing Time Volume 1 DVD.  You and your child will fall in love!

Be patient! And don’t get TOO excited by progress. My kids are always two steps forward, one (or more) steps back!

I am a mother if an 7 yr old girl and an 21 month old boy! With my daughter I think I rushed her (at 18 months ) and she wasent ready so then it ruined it for her & she didn’t want to until it was “her” idea… At age 3!!! I tried every thing in between 1-3 years and she just wasn’t having it! So then i said with my next child I would wait and do it when they show signs of readiness instead of just pushing it upon them!!! Just a few short months ago my 21 month old would always want to go “potty” when anyone else would so we bought him a potty & I never mentioned it once, let it be his idea and he always is going potty…at least once or twice a day & he is not even 2 yet!!!! MY BEST potty training tip… Let it be the child’s idea, don’t rush it… It will happen when “they’re ready”!!! Every child it different! I hope this wins me the free potty training set to help my little man get all the way trained and be going like a big boy at 2 years old!!!

No training pants! My daughter knows the difference and will just go as if she has a diaper on. I bought underwear that is a bit thicker (Gerber makes them. Got them at Target.) We have Pee-Pee down she still won’t go #2 in the potty.
Thanks for the chance to win. We love this series.

RELAX! Nobody wears diapers forever they will eventually learn if you stress out about it it will take them longer to learn

  5. Ginger F. says

Don’t rush the process! Don’t mistake interest for readiness. They may be curious but if you jump in before they are truly ready and end up needing to back off, it can give them the idea that quitting is optional after they are ready but losing interest. Hope that makes sense! : ) Also, remember to keep life simple during the process. Potty training is hard to do on the go.

My tip is to start with putting them on the potty at an easy time like right after a nap and then once they get that add on other times such as when they wake up in the morning and after lunch.

i think being patient and never giving up is the best advice. dont expect too much from your child either – they wont be a pro at it the first week….

  8. Sharon says

I have a 2 yr old that I’m desperate to potty train. But, I’m taking the advice of Mom’s who have been there, done that. Their tip is to wait until your child is ready and shows an interest in the potty.

  9. Jamie Brigham says

With boys I get them to pee in the potty standing up by putting cheerios in there and telling them to aim

My little girl is only 4 months but I feel the best advice I have been given when it comes to potty training so far is to be very patient!!
