I had the opportunity to review the Getting Ready For Kindergarten DVD and Will was instantly in love! While I prefer more realistic characters in his videos, he absolutely was mesmerized by the cartoon images and immediately began dancing when the songs started! We viewed it for the first time inside the house but he insisted on bringing it to the car on our recent trip to visit my parents-that is a high honor for any DVD since only his most prized ones are requested for road trips!
As a teacher, I was pleasantly pleased with the DVD content. While the one I selected contains a lot of personal developent skills such as tying your shoes and brushing your teeth, it also has various educational topics as well. Counting, letter recognition, and listening comprehension are my favorites! As many parents of a 2 year old can testify to, listening skills are a major teaching point! I really like that the video instructs children to take a break and try the techniques they teach on the DVD before continuing on to the next skill. This enables the parent to become involved as well which is so important with any lesson a child learns. All in all, I definitely recommend this DVD! They are creative, interesting, and Will just adores them!
