Has your child been asking you for a cat or a dog? Has this left you wondering how you can afford the food, toys, and vet care of these precious animals?
Well, have no fear, Nintendo has come to the rescue! Their new game for the 3DS will help your child experience “playing around” with deisgner dogs and cats! Here is a little more about the game from Nintendo:
Nintendogs + cats for the 3DS – video games without glasses – are back in the palm of your hand on the Nintendo 3DS system, with even cuter and more expressive puppies and, for the first time, kittens!
The fun from the original nintendogs game returns, with multiple breeds to choose from, accessories for your puppies and kittens to wear, and the ability to let your puppies and kittens train and compete in different challenges and activities.
Since not only the game, but also the 3DS was new to my family, I wanted to share thoughts on both:
At first glance the 3DS is identical to the DS Lite, however upon opening up the portable system, I noticed a few small differences, namely the addition of an analog control pad and larger top screen. Later once the system was on and the set-up procedure was complete, the top screen was able to be viewed in 3D. The 3DS also has the capability to play Nintendo DS games, download additional games, take 3D pictures and access the internet. The similarities make using the 3DS a snap if you are already used to the DSi or DS Lite.
The Nintendogs + Cats game that we received with the 3DS allows you to create, train, and care for a pet. The game allows the created pet to “learn” and respond to your voice for different commands and perform tricks. The pet has emotions, a personality, and you must play, wash, feed, and give the pet water as needed based on the status updates you receive each time you turn on the game. The game also tracks you actually walking when prompted to take your pet “for a walk” and awards prizes for different distances. There are also competitions you can enter with your pet to win additional prizes. The game is an awesome and fun way to teach the demanding responsibility of a pet to younger children without the actual costs involved in owning a pet. Our kids thought it was hilarious and were instantly mesmorized by the images on the screen. Even cooler to them was hearing familiar family voices come out of the game!
