I love water and it is definitely my beverage of choice. However, since having Zack, I find it increasingly hard to remember to hydrate myself as frequently as I should. I know many other people have this issue as well. In fact, some people choose soda or coffee instead and this can create many problems on hot and steamy days like we have been experiencing this summer!
I was given the opportunity to try Walmart’s recently and I was pleasantly surprised! When I visited Walmart to purchase the drinks I was a bit overwhelmed by the number of flavors-it was so hard to choose so I let Will have the decision. He picked some great ones! The taste was light and refreshing plusthe fact that it contains no sugar is a definite plus and even allows me to even share it with my 2 year old!
In fact, the boys and I decided to take our new found refreshing beverage and participate in a Pay It Forward campaign. We searched for individuals who have no choice but to work outside in the heat, and provided them with these cold drinks. It was such a learning experience for my 2 year old to help give these people a cool moment in their day! The hard working construction workers, road crews, truck drivers, and city workers we encountered greeted us with first shock and then gratitude. I am sure they had no idea what to think of a mom with 2 kids driving around Virginia Beach handing out flavored water! However, all the ones who actually opened thedrinks in front of us loved the taste!
The smile on my face grew with each person we met because I knew we made a difference in their day. It was truely a wonderful experience and I am so glad I brought Will along on the trip. He absolutely loved searching for “hot and thirsty people” and handing them the drinks! I am proud to say that this Pay It Forward campaign allowed me to lay crucial character foundation in Will and to teach him that whenever possible, you should always help others and show you care, whether they are complete strangers or not. I know we will do little projucts like this in the future!
I created a that gives even more details of our Pay It Forward experience that I would love for you to visit. Hopefully it helps you consider some easy ways to Pay It Forward in your own neighborhood this summer! I would love to hear about it if you do. You can view it by clicking on the image below:
