One Day Without Shoes?
One aspect I absolutely love about my job is being able to bring you information about companies that are trying to improve other people’s lives. TOMS Shoes is one of these companies. Besides making amazing shoes, TOMS Shoes also operates a non profit organization, called Friends of TOMS that provides a new pair of shoes for each pair the company sells. These shoes are donated to children in need. In fact, they are teaming up with One Day Without Shoes, an event that is scheduled on April 10, 2012 to bring about more awareness about this cause.
The TOMS company has also launched an eyewear line that helps people in need as well. By purchaseing TOMS eyewear, three options are given to provide sight to someone in need: seeking medical treatment, prescription eyeglasses, or sight saving surgery. As someone who has had vision problems my entire life, I can’t imagine how grateful these individuals are to finally have aid in correcting their sight.
One last thing I’d like to tell you about TOMS is their partnership with Autism United. I personally know children affected with some form of Autism and I have seen how drastically this diagnosis can affect their lives. Autism United is dedicated to spreading autism awareness around the world and by purchasing TOMS Shoes, buyers are given the chance to take part in this awareness campaign!
Have you heard about One Day Without Shoes? You can read about why you should go barefoot on April 10, 2012 and how you can help spread the word about children without proper footwear.
