Nintendo Wii Game System Plus Game Bundle Review

Many families are feeling the crunch of tight budgets this year and forgoing the usual family summer vacation.  In fact, recent years have made the term “staycation” very popular!  One idea for a staycation is to have a “Gaming Day” where you and your family can have some healthy competition inside the house.  Nintendo has come to understand that many families can’t afford  expensive games and has given the solution of the the Nintendo Selects bundle of four classic games:

  • Wii Sports
  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
  • Mario Super Sluggers
  • Animal Crossing: City Folk

Each of the above games are only $19.99 – making them much more affordable!  The Wii is also now available in black or white for just $149.99 – the system also comes packaged with the Mario Kart Wii game and a matching colored Wii Wheel accessory… another bargain!  Here is what Nintendo has to say about games included in the bundle:

Wii Sports allows players enjoy hours of sporty summer fun on the golf course, tennis court, boxing ring, baseball diamond or bowling alley. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess whisks them to a mystical land filled with challenge and adventure. Mario Super Sluggers grants players admission to a host of wildly imaginative ballparks, all with a Mushroom Kingdom twist. In Animal Crossing: City Folk, they can even customize their own colorful universe for a social summer getaway.”

My thoughts:

I have to admit I have never been a fan of video games.  However, the Wii Console with Mario Kart Wii Bundle – Black has caused me to change my opinion of this popular pastime.  I have always had visions of big eyed children sitting in near trance like behavior and not moving except for the occasional hand shift.  These thoughts and visions have been shattered by the Wii!  Playing these games allows the user to move around the floor, using and improving hand eye coordination and also using problem solving skills at the same time-not to mention even working up a sweat! I really love the Wii Sports where I can become a professional bowler, tennis player or boxer right in my own living room!  The boxing is my favorite since it reminds me of working out to Tae Bo!  I see a lot of fun times in the future using Wii!  I have already started saving up for Wii Fit and know that it will totally worth every penny.  In the meantime, my family and I will be learning how to conquer the Nintendo Selects bundle of classic and budget friendly games!
