Photo Frame
Thumb tacks

1. Locate a frame that has a nice big border (will look better) and remove the glass and any picture inside.

2.  Cut a piece of cork to fit inside the frame and insert it in, securing the back of the frame.

3. Insert thumb tacks into the cork in various places depending on what you want to be held.  This was perfect for some of my “chunkier” pieces that take up too much space in my jewelry box!

Mother’s Day Personalized Gifts-Photo Cube

Cube of Scrap Wood (or you can purchase some craft wood)
Paint of your choice
Mod Podge

Sponge or Paint Brush

1.  If you use a scrap piece of wood, you will want to sand it to create a smooth working surface.  If you’re using craft wood, this step can be skipped.
2.  Paint the entire block with your paint choice.
3.  Print your desired pictures.  Make sure you print them as 4X6.  This size will work best for the cube shape.
4. Place the cube on your picture and using a pencil, trace the block so you have an outline of where to cut.  I didn’t want to forget what picture I measure for each side so I labeled them both with pencil.
5.  Cover one side of the cube with Mod Podge and lay a picture on top of the cube.  Allow to dry completely.

6.  Cover the picture with Mod Podge and allow to dry.  Repeat with a second coat.
7.  Repeat the process with all other pictures.

Easter Door Decorations

easter bunny door wtext

I love decorating the boys’ bedroom doors for holiday so why wouldn’t I come up with some Easter Door decorations?!  This simple door decor took me minutes and since I had all of the materials around the house, it was FREE!  This Thankful Easter Bunny door decoration can easily be personalized by allowing your child to decorate the eggs, choose various colors of eggs, and even different colored bunnies!

Easter Door Decorations:

Construction paper (various colors)
Scotch Tape

1.  Cut 2 circles, one small and one larger for the bunny’s body.
2.  Cut out 2 bunny ears.  There are many stencils online you can use for this but I just did it freehand.
3.  Create a sign that says “I Am Most Thankful For…” on your computer or just write it on the belly of the bunny with the marker.
4.  Draw a face on the smaller circle (bunny’s face).  Don’t forget the whiskers!
5.  Tape all the pieces together to form the bunny’s body.
6.  Cut out egg shapes and have your child tell you things they are thankful for in their life.
7.  Put tape on the backs of the eggs and allow your child to put them all around the bunny.  I also added some “grass” for the bunny to sit on.

I was happily surprised that both boys picked some pretty significant people/things to be thankful for (of course games and toys were also included in the list).

Easy St. Patrick’s Day Craft-Hand Print Leprechaun

Paint (orange and yellow/tan)
Construction Paper (cut into hat shape and pot of gold shape)

1.Using orange paint, color your child’s 4 fingers (not thumb) and the bottom part of the hand.
2. Use yellow/tan paint and paint the middle part of their hand. Allow paper to dry.
3.  Have you child glue the leprechaun’s hat onto the “head”.  I had each child also create a little hat buckle that had their initials on it.
4.  Glue the pot of gold on the bottom of the page.
5.  Add a face to your leprechaun and a rainbow to your pot of gold!

Educational Activities:

Science: Obviously this activity lends itself to discuss rainbow and how they are formed and the colors you find in them.

Language Arts: 1. Have your child create a story (you can write while they talk if they aren’t old enough) about a leprechaun finding a rainbow. Encourage them to add as many details as possible (where the rainbow was located, how he searched for it, what was the treasure at the end of it, etc). 2. Read the book The Night Before St. Patrick’s Dayand talk about St. Patrick’s Day and summarize the book. Pay close attention to pictures in the book and see how many rainbows you can spot.
