My husband is a big coffee drinker but he also loves biscotti. Buying it premade can get to be a bit expensive so he asked a fellow Italian friend for her recipe and after some experimenting to make our “own”, this is what we came up with!
Almond Biscotti Recipe:
3 Cups Flour
1 1/2 Cups Sugar
8 Tablespoons Crisco
2 Teaspoons Vanilla or Lemon Flavoring
Zest of 1/2 a Lemon
2 Cups Dried or Fresh Cranberries
2 Cups Almonds or Walnuts (do you want almond biscotti or walnut?)
4 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1. Preheat oven to 325 .
2. Mix all ingredients together until they are well blended.
3. Bake for approximately 45 minutes or until golden brown.
4. Cut into your desired biscotti size.
5. Lay the pieces on a baking sheet and bake another 5-10 minutes for your desired hardness.
*Note* We alternate making our biscotti with walnuts or almonds and like the both the same. The one pictured in this post is the walnut version.
